The mission of the Gary City Clerk is to provide quality service to the citizens of our community and to those who must conduct business with us from other areas. Within this challenging and multifaceted operation, our goal is to implement a more efficient and professional work environment through organization, proficient use of technology and good customer service.
The Gary City Clerk interfaces with city government, elected officials, the Gary Common Council, criminal and civil divisions of the Gary City Court, divisions of the Gary Police Department, the Lake County Prosecutor, attorneys, and other entities as the authorized public
records manager and keeper of the city seal.
The Office of the Gary City Clerk has one of the largest caseloads in the State of Indiana where processes also include collecting revenues received through court mandates and judgments, tickets and other fines or fees.
